There's nothing in baseball like a great play from the catcher. Some of the most important plays are decided behind the dish, and this one is no different.

Catcher Austin Wooldridge hails from UTPB during the college season, but this clip is from his summer team, the Alaska Goldpanners of Fairbanks. The game was the opener of the 2009 Kamloops International Baseball Tournament -- a tourney the Goldpanners went on to win (with three victories on title day).

A little extra is added at the end so that I could post ABCA Hall of Famer Jim Dietz visit Stanford's Carey Schwartz on the mound.

  • @Infecteroid117 wait was there a runner on 1st ?? didn't notice that

  • @josef331 If your confused about the runner from first going to second, any runner can tag up on any catch made anywhere.

  • Did the catcher not get the ball at first ??

    Wasn't that a foul ball ??

  • great play, and focus
