Integrated Systems Design, an industry leading supplier of automated systems, demonstrated the capability of their ULTRAPICK system at the Material Handling Industry of America sponsored NA2010 Trade Show in Cleveland Ohio. The system blew the roof off with the advanced features and productivity enhancements provided.
Shown at the booth was a simulated horizontal carousel system with 3 pick locations and a fully functional automated pack-out system with 9 order locations.
The system is designed in a modular fashion to easily integrate with your existing hardware and software, and to be quickly expanded as your needs change.
As an example of the flexibility, this setup was installed and configured at the show in under 8 hours.
Powered by Ujigami Material Control System from Tutelar Technologies, the entire system is designed to free the operator from all order administration tasks.
Orders are automatically identified by the system as they enter the pack-out station, directed to a packing lane and start sending pick requests to the carousel immediately.
Once the last parts to complete an order have been verified as placed, the system automatically routes the box or tote out of the packing station.
High-level business logic is used to minimize carousel movement and maximize available packing stations that are presented to the operator at all times.
There is no need for an operator to scan-in or scan-out orders. UltraPick continually manages all adminstrative aspects.
These system features enable the operator to dedicate 100% of their time to the value-added task of filling the orders. Warehouses using this system report 15 to 28% improvement in order fill productivity rates.
The material transfer system uses proven, robust, industry standard components sourced from well-known national suppliers.
The layout and configuration of the warehouse and packing stations are custom designed and installed to your specific requirements. Storage and feeding of dunnage and cartons into the system is readily incorporated. All necessary ancillary products such as scales, tables, tape dispensers, order verification equipment, etc can be provided to maximize productivity in your layout.

The easy to use light interface requires no operator training, with pick accuracy achieved at 100%. The lights are placed beside each level of the carousel to guide the operator to the correct pick location. A large LED display identifies the location and quantity to pick in plain English. In this case, pick 2 parts from the right hand bin and pick 2 parts from a 1-compartment full bin. Alternative language selections can be supplied upon request.
Our lights are large, easy-to-read modules with big, tactile buttons that an operator can quickly press. Complete order information is available at each button module to eliminate the need for the operator to constantly reference the control monitor.
Similarly, the common light interface is used on the put side of the packing station. Additional functions are available at the put light module to verify correct carton or tote, part number, and quantity for the order in station.
The control monitor utilizes high definition graphics to quickly guide the operator to the next step, if required. Full functionality to pick, stock or put-away, count and verify inventory is available to users with proper security clearance. Extensive reporting is available to track efficiency, inventory levels and turn-over, downtime, and other factors to ensure lowest cost to produce.
The entire system is easily configured by either our team, or your staff. New part numbers can be automatically added from your existing MRP system.
An automatic invoice inserter completes the order by placing the paperwork directly into the box as UltraPick successfully sends another order on its way to your customer -- again without the need for operator involvement.
