I like to do the same thing, dont feel TOO alienated. Give it a go with some Ray Charles songs, although most likely considered musical blasphemy, it sounds rather pleasant.:)

to suggest that music be enjoyed not just as it's presented, but in altered forms too.
I generally prefer slowed down music so that I can catch all the idiosyncracies of the production...
or as the slogan of the condo across the street from my apartment reads:
"relax and slow down to the TEMPO"
