Looking on Google it appears the guy going for the water speed record failed. The guy going for the land speed succeeded and Leeds still have some dodgy fans.

i was paid by the bbc to play the whistle at the end of this piece. i used a few milk bottles and had to wait for the bongos to fade out before playing. i was paid £25.

Did anybody else notice that phone didn't ring, not once during all the years of John's broadcast! I bet it was just there for show, it probaly wasn't even connected!
