If you need to restore portions of your website from backup but you don't have any suitable backup copies, as a last effort you may be able to use a copy of your site stored in Google's cache to help. We'll show you how to do just that in this tutorial.

Please note that this method does not work for php driven sites, such as WordPress or Joomla.

  • In addition to my last response, many of your questions have been addressed here:

I am not able to post a link, but you can see this by:

    1. Visiting the InMotion Hosting Forum

    2. Clicking the Forum labeled "Directory Listing / Defacement Fix due to TiGER-M@TE"

    3. Click the topic titled, "How Concerned should I be?"

  • Hi WakeUpAlberta, The same team 100% focused on addressing the hack was the same team that would have had to send out notifications. Full focus was on resolving the issues at hand vs. sending notifications. That is by no means an excuse. We understand our customers need to be informed of these types of issues asap.

  • You could try to use a website as recovermywebsite . com instead, it does the same for free.

  • You might think about telling your customers about the index.php file that has been installed in every folder, and about how this happened, and why we weren't notified (an email isn't too much to ask), and why my customers had to tell me that my site was hacked, and what you're doing to make sure that this does not happen again, and why we shouldn't find a new host.
