David "Tinker" Pozlusny and I met on my Appalachian Trail thruhike in 2004. After surviving 444 daze in Iraq, young Sargent Tinker came west from his native Boston to catch his first glimpse of the red rock and canyons of northern Arizona and Utah. Viewing this footage damn near two years later, I can't help liken us to Edward Abbey's characters in the Monkey Wrench gang. Be sure to watch parts one and two! For more about Tinker and other real live long-distance hiker heroes, read my AT memoir "Dead Men Hike No Trails."
