This is a Harbor Freight 10x12 greenhouse that is used for an aquaponics system. It's not as big as my regular garden, but I can start it 2 months earlier! Thanks for viewing!

  • What background in computer science do you have? You seem well versed in hacking both at the software level and the hardware level. I basically want to do the same thing you've done but also rig up a robotic arm at some point that can also harvest veggies when ready. I imagine some kind of vegetable recognition algorithm (like facial recognition but for veggies) could be used.

  • @enticed2zeitgeist Electronic engineering and computer science...a loooong time ago!

  • Wowee. I'm sure you've heard this before but I'll say it again, amazing job! Couple quick questions, for your flood and drain beds what did you line them with? Looks like pond liner, I'm not sure. Also, what is the medium? And finally, do you check pH and EC and if so, what are the values generally? Sorry for all the questions but I have to know every detail of this work of art.

  • @DamersenNetwerk yup, it's a standard pond liner. The medium in some of the beds is crushed granite. Most of my beds are now filled with expanded shale. I rarely check the pH but it usually floats around 6-7-7.0 Make sure you check out my new geodesic dome videos. ;-)

  • Goldfish have no stomach, so it's recommended you feed them several times a day but small quantities.

  • @cubaniton74 yes. They get fed 3 to 5 times a day, depending on the water temperature.

  • Fantastic setup. You can see the hard work and thought you put into this. Very nice job!

  • Excellent setup! Why don't you use a fish that you can also harvest to eat?

  • that's a lot of material crammed in a 10x12 space. Nice video. Gonna try some Mango's and Dragon fruit. Gonna use 16 to 20 inch planters. Do you think that would work? Or do you think the plants will get too big for the greenhouse?

  • I'm back to the cool part of youtube :) your greenhouse is the coolest I've seen :)

  • Can you post or send me details on the usb to controller wiring and programming. If you have a price on it let me know. Thanks, Ken.

  • did you say that you do your own usb functional relay programming? Wow if so =] What OS is your dell runing?

  • Just brilliant. Nicely done!
