Filmed by my 6 year old son in our back yard in Terrace BC. Saturn in the first shot was overexposed to show the moons. The last shot of the moon has a star (HP 77984) from Scorpio in it. He thought it looked cool.

Seeing conditions and trans. were poor. Handheld video with a Pentax SMC XW-5 eyepiece.

  • i have a 8" skywacher dobsonion manual what would you recomend in the way of imaging equipment for someone whos never done astrophatography befor the imaging would be mainly the planets and the moon thanks

  • You can use any video camera to capture your subjects, then use something like registax to stack your frames.

  • What the hell? In the UK the only thing I can see with the naked eye is the Moon and various stars that are not notable planets of the solar system was this at a peak viewing time?

  • We are lucky here to have very dark skies at certain times of the year. For the next two months the sky doesn't get dark to the north. The best viewing time here is Apr.-May. and Sept.-Oct.
