  • Can you please tell us what the name of the song is that you used in your Linux Mint 10 LXDE video?

I'm probably going to be switching to LM 10 LXDE soon. I have LM 8 XFCE right now. It's good, but the LXDE desktop is very snappy on my old computer compared to XFCE. Thanks for the video, by the way.

  • @gjevideos the song is 'some chords' by deadmau5 and yes, LXDE is the best lightweight desktop I've ever seen. I think you'll like the upgrade

  • personally, since i've switched to gentoo i've learned more about linux in 2 hours than my 2 months using debian before hand. it really embraces the super minimalism philosophy that is unix. if you ever have time i highly suggest trying out gentoo. reading the manual is an absolute must.

it is so much faster to read the manual than to ask a forum and get the answer you want in the right format right off the bat.

  • @omfg4all yes, it's definatly on my list of distos to try (and review). Working with Arch at the moment, then I'll move to gentoo. So how long does the average build take?

  • awesome music... but the vid would have been better in a native env not a vm. Thanks tho

  • After seeing gnome3 , LXDE is looking better and better... must switch now!

  • @MetalShreader What are you talking about? --- some chords, by deadmau5 --- that is the LXDE start up jingle. :)

  • using this right now, amazing OS

  • @chillart02 I don't know how to change... I'm a geek

  • My laptop touchpad would not work on Linux Mint... works fine on straight up Ubuntu.

  • Could you tell me, how to change background in Linux Mint 10 LXDE?

  • Nice video, I tried Mint 10 GNOME and Mint 10 LXDE and GNOME uses about 80mb more ram on my notebook. If someone is wondering which version to install, on low hardware LXDE will spare some memory, if it's not an issue GNOME version looks nice.

  • Just put it on a 733mhz compaq 256mb PC. It is reasonably fast.
