Here is Miss Eleanor Powell at 17 years old in the Paramount 1931 Musical "Queen High". She appears at the very left towards the end of the clip, dancing on an art deco chess pedestal with an attractive Louis Brook's hairstyle. This is the only time she appears in the film (uncredited). A very young Ginger Rogers and Frank Morgan can be seen here singing away to a happy "Brother Just Laugh it off".

-It is a bit out of sync but it's well.

  • I just wrote to Eleanor Powell's son, Peter Ford, and he sent in this answer:

"Yes, that is Queen High shot in New York. Mom had a bit in that one dancing on that table. She was in another during this time, but i can't remember the name - it's in my files. Peter"

  • This film is from 1930, and she could have done this... as it would have been filmed back East. I'm checking on it. Sure looks like her to me!

  • eleanor powell and ginger rogers in the same film. that is enough to give someone a nose bleed! what a high! i may be up in the clouds all day now!

  • that ending is certainly like eleanor doing her turnings

  • Sorry, but that isn't Eleanor Powell. In 1931 she was 19, not 17, and she'd made a big name for herself on Broadway, so much so that she would never do, or be asked to do, such an anonymous bit as this with all these other girls. She didn't make her first movie till 1935.

  • I think the guy with the mustache in the beginning is Frank Morgan, the Wizard of Oz.

  • That's the Wizard the on The Wizard Of Oz!

  • Eleanor POWELL
