Eclipse SE

After a Jedi falls to the Dark Side, he decides to responsibly dispose of himself for the safety of the galaxy. The Force channels his fallen Master's spirit to dissuade him.

Inspired by a scene from the extended cut of Yimou Zhang's "Hero", "Eclipse" was conceived as an entry to TheForce.Net's Lightsaber Choreography Competition III. It was shot November 20-21, 2004, and after an exhausting month fighting the brand new HDV format, it was completed January 1, 2005. It won 3rd place in LCC3.

Due to the short development time and 4-minute competition time limit, numerous plot points and effects shots were eliminated from the original release.

With a new edit that includes a few pick-ups shot November 19, 2005, "Eclipse SE" features completely re-done digital effects, and a brand new stereo (except on YouTube) sound track.

Very nifty. Seeing someone try very hard NOT to kill someone with a lightsaber was really novel.

Why did the "Nerf Herder" have a non-rotoscoped lightsaber though? And why did the broken lightsaber blow up?

The broken lightsaber blew up because the metal cane shorted its exposed power supply. It wasn't properly disposed of.

I think I would have preferred to watch the fight between master and apprentice un interupted but it was still REALLY good.

Excellent Choreography, I enjoyed the story and especially liked the bits where we see the apprentice fighting the air, that was an inventive bit of filming.

yeah the saber obviously blew up what caused it to is probably known only to the crew but i assume it has to do with the saber being cut in half

great job, i like how at the first part of the battle the jedi is trying to kill himself and the master is blocking it.

What I think happened ater the end titles was the powercore within the lightsaber blowing up, well thats what I think it was!!
