Glorietta 2 Bombing

Here's a video that I took while on the way out of Glorietta 4. Please be patient while it loads. There's not much to see, but hearing the screams still brings chills to my spine.

I was walking near Jollibee Glorietta 4 when it happened. My back was turned to Glorietta 2, when I saw the window glass of Jollibee ripple and felt a shockwave pass through my chest. I thought one of the streamers in the Activity Center fell down or something, so I turned around. It was so surreal. I surveyed the Activity Center and everything was okay. People were walking around as if nothing happened... and then panic ensued. It was like I was in a movie set and the director suddenly yelled 'Action!'. A cloud of smoke seeped from Glorietta 2. People running away from the scene. Screaming. I knew something bad happened but my survival instinct wouldn't kick in. I knew I had to go out of the mall, but curiosity got the better of me. I was even actually contemplating about moving towards Glorietta 2 for a closer look. Better judgement kicked in, so I walked back towards the Glorietta 4 exit.

I couldn't resist not knowing what happened, so I walked outside Glorietta 4 towards Glorietta 2. They already cordoned off the road between Glorietta and Landmark, and I saw that EMT guys were trying to revive a man in a tattered gray shirt. I had to go around Landmark to get to Glorietta 2, and when I got there I knew that a bomb exploded. They were saying it was an LPG explosion, but it was too strong. Plus, the blast happened in the lobby of Glorietta 2 and there were no restaurants nearby.

The scary part is that I was at the blast site 10 minutes before the explosion. I came from Netopia in Park Square 1 where I printed something from my email.

let's get things right... (1) it was NOT a BOMB as evidence has shown.

now, let's get things even more right... (2) the mall management have to stop denying accountability. SHAME, SHAME ON THE AYALA management if they continue to do so.

yeah, it seems like based on the evidence, it was negligence on ayala's part. but you would think differently if you were there. malakas talaga yung shockwave. too strong to be LPG explosion. and kung diesel yun, where was the fire? and walang smell ng fuel. i'd like it better if hindi nga siya bomba, at least hindi siya terrorist act.

i actually planned to go towards the explosion, pero naisip ko pamilya ko. so what i did was go outside and go around towards glorietta 2. i didn't stay long at glorietta 2 coz umulan. kawawa talaga yung mga victims. god bless their souls.

Teka wla bang nakapansin na wla man lang fire alarm sa mall or Public Address anouncement para ma direct ang mga tao to evacuate. meron bang sprinkler system na na activate kasabay ng pagsabog?. parang wlang contingency in place kase yung mga tao d alam kung saan pupunta... pano kung may pangalawang pagsabog?.. mas maraming mamamatay?.. gising pilipino!.. maging mapanuri sa mga nangyayari sa paligid at sa bansa!..

We didn't actually know what was happening, that is why you'll see in the video na yung ibang tao parang wala lang, naglalakad lakad pa. Even the guards were in the dark, I think. I guess okay na din yun, para 'di mag-panic yung mga tao. Yun nga lang, malas lang kung may second explosion, dahil wala talagang assistance from the Glorietta security. They were really caught with their pants down. 'Di sila naka-react agad.

its not a terrorist bombing. it was a gas explosion. australian federal police, who assisted in the investigation have confirmed this finding together with the philippine national police. of course the media and some people prefer to sensationalise things, so you have reports of a so-called terrorist bombing.
