Think I saw this somewhere else on youtube, but hey. Its the test card F, seen on British Television (and worldwide in fact) before the advent of 24 hour television on BBC in 1997 (ITV went 24 hour in 1988, Channel 4 in 1997). The girl in the pic is Carol Hersee, now 47 years old!

  • The most remarkable thing about this video is that anyone should bother to put it up at all!!!!!!!!!!

I went to school with someone who claimed to be related to the TC girl. He never stopped talking about it....Maybe he posted this video??

  • @chanctonbury63 Nope, Hersee's a good 30 years older than me, i'm just a test card fan

  • what ever happend to the girl??

  • Carol Hersee is now a mother in her early 50's and works as a costume designer. She was paid £1000 at the time (a great sum back in the 60's) but that's all...

  • BBC1 should bring this programme back. It would be value for money regarding tv licence than the rubbish you get now on this channel

  • This is actually better than alot of the terrestrial garbage on now.

  • I always liked the Open University geeks talking about physics, chemistry and technology in the middle of the night following hours later after the test card on BBC2.

  • @chanctonbury63 It's part of televisual history. So, ok, it didn't appeal to everyone, and the BBC thought as much too when it was shown. But, some of us older folks who like to look back and remember how TV used to be, (i.e. when the programmes were limited and quality came before quantity), remember the Test Card, (and the music), with fondness. It gives some of us a warm, fuzzy feeling inside. A nostalgia trip, if you like. Surely, you don't begrudge people that?

  • i remeber staring at that testcard for hours seeing if that little girl moved:)

  • I learned of this card when my local PBS station here in the US imported Life on Mars.

  • Today, she's back for BBC HD (It is a 24 hour but takes for 90 seconds and resuming programing!)

  • carole hersee still owns the clown

  • i love the bgm
