@aaronalwines I think the point of this to extend your creativity on the kit with regards to sound and open up your imagination to ways you can generate different sounds from what you have. The sensible option for a gig or studio sesh would be electronic samples like you rightly pointed out and I don't think chad is trying to promote this type of playing live.

Definitely...........spending money on an effects cymbal is just like investing money on a one trick pony. Samplers are the best bet. I even think sampling module like the Roland SPDS.......can take the place of let's say.........a Timpani - also a pretty limited instrument and a bloody expensive one for that matter

1:35 is that a sawblade on the right on the floor?
-
@heinzie5 that's what i wanted to post :D

@pescalante2 you have a point, but the only reason hes using the zilidjians is because he was paid to, im sure if you used a wuhan china and splash, you'd get the exact same effect, and im certain any splash placed on a snare would produce that sound.
-
@high8us And a good way to keep rights to that idea is by posting it on a public website that anybody can see. Cool idea though.

@pescalante2 actually you can buy some cheap wuhans and get a really close sound to this stuff. i made my own trash hats for like 30 bucks and it sounds pretty good
-
my drum teacher showed me the cymbal on the snare to make a techno/industrial kind of sound but he had a little shit crappy cymbal that you can get with plastic baby drumkits :) it still sounded good and it was not that expensive.....you could use that as an alternative if you dont want to go and buy expensive cymbals : )

That China Hi Hat sounds SICK!!!! I'm in love with Zildjian K's and A customs.

this wasnt copied from benny greb at all xD
no offense cause he is a great player n zildjian is a top company but really if i wanted to get an 'industrial' sound i would just get some electronic samples cause only the top 1% of drummers (huge names who are endorsed) / seriously rich people could afford this. we're talking about 500 dollar cymbals just for effects.

yeah man if I crapped either cymbals or money I would try it out it's not like I can go buy 20 cymbals just to play like that
