Kyle Gann claims that this is very first Postminimalist piece. I should like to see his reasoning. And is thus important historically. One doesn't know what doesn't know. So what does one do? One makes sure one jolly well learns EVERY day !
Nice. Ive heard a just little by Duckworth before (arranged by Ritsu Katsumata). I read around that Duckworth is some of the first postminimalists. But I really dont get the term minimalism. Glass has done 'maximalist' things with rhythm (weird polymeters), and Ive seen Nyman use long melodies with few repetition but in accompaniment (if it contained more accidentals it would comparable to the romantic ones). I think that much postminimalist music still fits inside minimalist category...
