Metal stamper record made by Apollo Records turns out to be a blues / rock and roll 45-RPM vinyl single from 1957.

Note from August 10, 2008: Tom Chase has identified this record as being "Not Anymore" by Screamin' Jay Hawkins.

This record was originally released on 78RPM on the Timely label in 1954.

For more information about how stampers and records are (or have been) made, see:

(12 Aug 08) I just heard from a friend of Jay Hawkins... Graham Knight, who had been lucky enough to find the stamper to Elvis' first record, "That's Alright Mama". Read here: http://www.kyleesplin.com/ELVIS-%20MASTER-%20RECORDS-%20FOUND.htm

  • Thank You Very Much. This is Great.

  • I have a red plastic 45 of this on Timely. It's the B-side of "Baptize Me In Wine." Later reissued on Apollo.

  • This is too cool,RARE screamin'jay-and off a metal 45 stamp! This why digital is great,to take somethin that would be impossible to play a few years ago and now we have a forgotten tune,WOW

  • so this is played from end to finish on the record huh? wow never seen that

  • what is at the beginning that is back masked?(played backwards when forward) did you ever play it backwards to see whats said there or anwhere else in the song?

  • I have one of those silver records, but didn't know you could play it. I'll have to throw it on the hi-fi, however, it could never be as nice as this record. Wow is this great!!!
