Mexican film "One day of life" from 1950. and the well know song "Las mananitas". Remembering a fairer, happier times ...
This is great romantic movie, with unforgettable Mexican music. The brief plot: the movie is about two men in Mexican revolution, one being a high military officer and another, being sentenced for capital punishment. The mother of one of them come to see the prisoner, but she was not told that these guys, previously close friends, are now adversaries. The movie has nice cinematography, was done in great BW, and was extremely popular in this part of Eastern Europe.

- In 1948. Yugoslavia broke up with the Soviet Union and with their cinematography. Russian films were not so popular anymore.
Yugoslav authorities had to look somewhere else for film entertainment. They found a suitable country in Mexico: it was far away, the chances of Mexican tanks appearing on Yugoslav borders were slight and, best of all, in Mexican films they always talked about revolution in the highest terms. How could an average moviegoer know that it was not the Yugoslav revolution?
Emilio Fernández's Un Día de vida (1950) became so immensely popular that the old people in the former republics of Yugoslavia even today regard it as surely one of the most well known films in the world ever made although in truth it is probably unknown in every other country, even Mexican web pages don't mention it much.
The Mexican influence spread to all of the popular culture: fake Mexican bands were forming and their records still can be found at the flea markets nowadays.
According to some sources, the film is in Zagreb 1952nd or 1953rd years of continuous play 284 days in a row in front of sold out movies holl. In the years that followed many singers and bands recorded the song under various names.-

  • @allegro3bg

    najvjerojatnije nije

  • So If you are celebrating Peter's birthday this song can be sung...levantate Peter(or Mary or John or anybody) mira que ya amanecio.... Let me know if you want the real lyric from spanish or the one translated already....

  • @ivanfmg When we are talking about meaning of the song "Las mananitas" in Mexico, than you are right, it is exactly like you saif, but I am talking about meaning "Las Mananitas" in the states of last Yugoslavia. And the story here is totally different. The song is inseparable linked with the film "Un dia de vida" and to its content.

P.S. One of the best mariachi band of the World is "Los Caballeros" from Croatia. It is not by accident.

  • @1012harley other pictures mexican sad is el globero whit claviyaso very very sad.
