Benny was a funy dude! When I told him that I had sold my sax in order to buy my wife an engagement gift, he said: Bo, you dummy, you should have given her the sax
he was right
years later I bought an Armstrong alto from a great little shop on Carmine Street in NYC
still enjoy playin' and shall forever remeber Bennt Carter for his brilliance as a person and as a great musician
Can it get better. No histrionics here, just wickedly fine and restrained intelligent melodic execution throughout. Benny's legato 'slippy-slidy' playing is a complete joy naturally, and with the company of one of the great gentlemen of the keyboard (everybody's favourite accompanist) this is listening pleasure at its very best. Thank you for posting.
