And watching this back, I'd much rather have a newsreader like Brian Baird, whose voice is a good mix of clarity and authority, than the sloppy, shouty and invariably blonde bimbo lot UTV thrown at our screens these days.

The polished tones of UTVs Brian Baird an excellent news reader his voice can be heard reading a fictional news story in YTVs Harrys Game from 1982.

I vaguely remember Brian Baird reading the news before he retired from UTV in 1986 and 1987.
