The Yankees won virtually every year back then, and listening to these Yankee fans whine about losing one to a gutty little team from Pittsburgh is too much.

Stephen Jay Gould - I think of the James Caan character in "Misery", except I would chain you to a bed and make you watch a repay of Maz' homerun over and over with toothpicks under your eyelids so you couldn't miss a moment. With Billy Crystal right beside you, same way. WHat bitches!!!

I was there, in the Bleachers for the first & last game of the series. For all of you who think the Pirates lucked out in the Series, think again. FACTS: Pirates playing in a much Tougher NL won 96 games in 60. Yanks in the weaker American League? 97. Pirates came back a record 48 times that year in the 7th, 8th, & 9th Innings to win. We were able to witness Miracle after miracle it seemed. They were never out of it. Despite the Run Differential, the Pirates deserved it. They were the Best Team!

That game marked the final time Casey Stengel would ever manage in a World Series. He would go on to be the first-ever manager of the Mets in 1962.

@bfnputz Well, everyone wants to see their team win every season. You never want to miss an opportunity at a championship. Look at how long it took the Red Sox to win one. And the Yankees did outscore Pittsburgh 55-27 in that series. It had to be painful to lose that one.

BACK TO THE WALL GOES BERRA!! ...
(heh-heh).

It does this old man's heart good to see Yankee fans whining. Way to go, Maz. Way to go, 2010 Texas Rangers.

The Pirates got shut out 2 times and still won and I thought Texas could pull it off this year....

All of these interviews are with the losers!?!? Some of them still whining. Sigh.

If the 1960 World Series was judged by how many runs are scored in the series as a whole then the Yankees would've won. But thats not how their decided.

I'm sure Ken Burns has some lame-ass excuse regarding his artistic license and hearing smug Yankee fans whine, but to me it was unforgivable that Mazeroski was not interviewed to describe an accomplishment that he will be remembered for as long as baseball is played. I hope future historians will see this gross negligence as a prime example of East Coast elitism in the popular arts.

Bing Crosby's family has found a kinescope of the entire 1960 series. I hope to watch the whole series one day on MLB network. My friend Ray grew up 4 blocks from forbes field and attended 3 games of the series. He had a ticket but was too nervous to attend game-7!! He thinks Bing chickened out too! Ray says Forbes field was the greatest ball park in history.
Whats the name of the song at the start of the video clip?
