a 140 degree compost pile is pretty easy to make i made one that was less then a cubic yard and still got that hot. use manure! or something else high in nitrogen
The bucket of water and compost was basically fermenting, If you were to take the gases that it produced, they wont be combustible.The smell could have been yeast, or some type of organism.
Jean probably took the fermented water and compost mixture and distilled that and burned the alcohol that the distillate would produce.
Sweet set up! I'm doing the same thing right now, going a bit bigger, as im trying to heat my camper for this upcoming winter. Didn't jean paine's temperatures reach about 140 degrees F inside? Do you think that is attributable to the size of his compost heat?
