There were tons of good music in the Commodore 64 games and here is a list of 10 games which I consider to be very memorable tunes. I limited the list to music that was composed for the C64, i.e. no movie soundtrack or classical music based c64 music is in this list.

1 - Rub Hubbard - Monty on the run (1985 Gremlin Graphics)
2 - Jonathan Dunn - Ocean Loader 4 (Ocean Software)
3 - Fred Gray - Batman Caped Crusader (1988 Ocean Software)
4 - Jason Brooke - Outrun (1986 U.S. Gold)
5 - Chris Hülsbeck - Great Giana Sisters (1987 Time Warp Productions)
6 - Rob Hubbard - Commando (1985 Elite)
7 - Peter Clarke - Bubble Bobble (1987 Firebird)
8 - Peter Clarke - Ocean Loader 3 (Ocean Software)
9 - Rob Hubbard - One Man & His Droid (1985 Mastertronic)
10. Matt Gray - Last Ninja 2 (1988 System 3)

I also uploaded a version of this video with remixes of these original tunes at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EZH5A1asomo .

  • Best one in 10th. place....hmmm...wierd

  • Commando...when film based games were (often) great

  • @archivesbc And Simon's BASIC, FTW! The cartridge added a lot of features, and I never even ran out of memory even though you only had 3KB to plat around with.

  • @archivesbc So was I. It would have been before August, when I turned 11. I was with my dad, but when I was going to Amiga shows a couple of years after I went to with friends or my own.

  • @Max404s I was just getting my head around basic at that time :) was only 10

  • @archivesbc Ah, okay. It was over 25 years ago!

I actually saw Rob Hubbard at a Commodore User show in London, back in 1985, promoting 'Crazy Comets'. I also saw Julian Rignal from Zzap 64!! walking around with a girl.
