Damn, now THIS is how Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs should have ended, with a jazzy fretless bass solo!
-
very nice solo!!! what is the track you're playing to? is it a "jam track" that you bought, band in a box or something else?
-
Exciting playing and love the sound of your guitar!
-
Pat Metheney. That's what you sound like.
-
Awesome music!

That's some awesome tone man!! Beautiful. Cool phrasing on the solo too, one suggestion that I offer would be to leave a bit more space in your solo. Still awesome though!
-
Wow!!!
Just beautiful.

Your technique is absolutely amazing - I wish I could double my thumb back that far on my right hand to get more horizontal. Immense man, you've got some dope skills.

im not a musician but.... i know a GOOD MUSICIAN PLAYING !!!!!!

much, much respect for your playing and for the great videos you put up here!
if i could play like that, i'd never leave home : )
FWIW...African Mahogany is an amazing thing to see with it's roots in the ground, Khaya Ivorensis will make you feel small...even though people and politics have almost eliminated it.
any timber would be lucky to have landed in your hands however, you bring new life!
thanks for the irations and the inspirations both, peace and music,

i really want to know if your strings are flats or roundwounds because i want to buy a fretless bass and i dont know wich kind of strings i would have to use if i want your sound. Im really amazed because of your great solo bass and i want to have the same sound of your bass, so what i need? You are exelent, sorry cause of my bad english. I'll wait for your answer please. no worries dude, I use Roundwounds, these are Elites Players series strings, very light gauge, and Nickel Plated, good luck! Hope that helps M

from what i understand that is an ebony fingerboard right? do you do anything to treat the fingerboard to protect it from the roundwounds? or is the wood strong enough that you dont have to do anything to it?

the board is ebony - it really is very hard wood and even though the roundwounds do leave marks on the board they aren't so deep that they damage the suface too much - in fact they end up adding to the character of the bass tone... ebony gives you that 'dark' sound with a lot of clarity and brightness as well, I often leave the treble pot flat or cut it slightly - that's how good the tone is on this bass.

god i adore that bass. is it the one which was built out of a piece of an old cupboard? somewhere read that on tb from you!
sweet playing as always by you! are you using a reverb here or does logic make it sound like that?

thanks dude, the bass was actually made from an old shelf in a school, the guy who made it thought the piece of wood looked interesting and it tirned out to be a piece of perfectly aged African mahogany...! It's a wonderful bass and I love it to death, and yes I used a touch of reverb when I mixed the audio, just to help the notes sing a bit more... thanks for watching. M
