Non-toxic Yellow Fire nanocrystal quantum dots in vial being excited by purple (near-ultraviolet) LED. These little guys are great. Notice the combination of blue and yellow light looks white to the human eye.

  • Nothing happened.... what am I looking at?

  • Their size I believe dictates whether or not they are non-toxic, If they are to small they become toxic because they can be absorbed into or penetrate a cell, if they aren't too small they are considered non toxic. Im no nano guy but I do believe that's what I read somewhere. I could be mistaken or had misunderstood the information at the time though.

  • That looks like a UV led. What wavelengths will give a response?

  • how do you know that this is non-toxic? what kind of passivation does this have and what is the intended use?

  • are those CdSe?
