Skip the paper and ash mess by using a Kindl-Stone (search youtube) to light the coals.

I have the same Weber Chimney Starter. Its so pretty when its new and silver. Then after the first use it turns a darker scotched color. Works like a charm though.

Don't pour the coals out like in the video, with the handle on top. The handle should be off to the side. That's what that longer, pivoting, metal handle is for. You pull that with one hand, and grasp the handle with the other, holding the chimney well away from yourself. Then pour out the coals sideways, so the flames never go anywhere near you. Then you don't need an oven mitt.

@liveactionsteve However you choose to pour the coals out of the chimney, I suggest you still wear a glove or mitt. I now use a leather BBQ glove. Can't be to safe.
