@geezerhack Try a Cold Steel Military Classic R1 or a Cold Steel ODA, which is cheaper. They are both "modern interpretations" as Lynn Thompson says.

I have a Randall Model 14 waited 3 years it was worth it.

Joe Kious(1st blade) is an outstanding knifemaker and talented artist, i believe his focus now is on knife art, with some unique models(real piece of jewelery) being sold for thousands of dollars. But all knifes showed are excellent choices.
