Composed by Robert Giracello, Bahay Kubo begins this suite of four original compositions for carillon; all pieces based on popular folk songs of the Philippines. In this first folk-setting, the melody begins unadorned, followed by several iterations of melodic, contrapuntal ornamentations, and lilting syncopations in a variety of tempi; the final setting is a dramatic ringing of the melody in the bass set to a final accelerando of intense joy.
