Johanna and I playing the first movement of Ludwig van Beethoven's Violin Sonata Op. 24, No. 5(Sonate V), popularly known as the "Spring Sonata". Composed in 1801, at the age of 31, Beethoven dedicated this piece to his patron, Count Moritz von Fries ("Dem Grafen Moritz von Fries gewidmet"). This piece grants the listener a rare glimpse into a more joyful side of the composer, a maestro known for producing works of high emotional intensity.

  • i think the piano overpowers the violin, i really like the violin but can barely hear it sometimes

  • @HomelessBaka : Good comment. I think there are two reasons: 1) I wasn't very good at playing pianissimo/mezzo piano; 2) the recording was made with a digital camera, which tended to align all sounds to the same loudness level. I'm working on both, though.

  • @zhouyu88 ha ha...jerk....they're not playing for a 'cornell' audience. they're playing for you and me. Do you really care that they're wearing shorts and a halter top? Just listen to the musics dude.

Your point is well taken. You're right about the coordination between the two instruments. I also realized that the piano was overpowering the violin at some passages. I didn't have prior chamber music experience (been playing solo most of the time). Now I am learning to play chamber music with other musicians, and that gives me a better understanding of what a piano's role should be in a group.

    I appreciate your insightful comments.

Well, if you put it that way...how can I disagree? :-) Maybe your message was intended to the other guy? Anyways, thanks for the encouraging words, Tara.

  • @eyh5 You've just earned a new subber :D

  • @eyh5 the piano over powers sometimes because it's actually a violin piano duet. so the piano also has the melody at times. but you are right too... the piano over powers a bit when it isn't supposed to. but they still play this very well :)

  • @TheAndixChannel : Thanks Andix for the compliment. Thank you also for subscribing to my channel, and I hope you'll enjoy the new piano videos that I plan to upload in the near future.
