this movie won nagesh a national awardfor his excellent acting...he is along side another great actor of al times kamal haasan...infact it seems kamal was so impressed by this particular scene tat he downplayed himself to give nagesh more scope n screenspace which ultimately won him the award..!! hats off to both these legends..!!

Nagesh is an excellent actor but an over-hyped comedian. In all the movies in which he acted as the comedian, he seldom made us laugh. Something that Gounder never failed to do.

So, while he is a good actor, he was a mediocre comedian at best. Not all his fault though. He is not solely responsible for the comedy as it involves the track/dialogue writers too. However, he lacked the timing that Gounder had in spades.

Doff your hats for Gounder, the greatest comedian of Tamil cinema.

kamal is not giving screenspace to nagesh. kamal is looking a father's grief in nagesh delivery. and let the scene drive the actors. at the end its magic.

Believe me.. if ego, one giving space to other comes into a beautiful scene. then the scene goes to trash. watch a father;'s grief.
