If you hit "boost" at precisely the right second while immediately behind a car, it makes them loose control. Problem with boosting take down though is that if you lose control, the other guy gets a take down just because your was the last car they touched. The way take downs work, is that they are awarded to whomever just TOUCHED your car last. Boost take downs are a double edged sword but its worth the reward.
