Fedora is not a negro dist haha ;D no seriously, fedora uses rpm packages. That's the biggest difference. And in my oppinion, it feels alot more professional then ubuntu.

It is actually just Fedora 8 not Fedora Core 8 but as far as RPM based distributions go (yuck!) F8 is not bad.
