Here is video of a significant Icing event that took place on January 18th, 2011. A coastal storm developed and tracked to the southeast of Connecticut. Temperatures were well below freezing at the beginning. Temperatures were only around 20 degrees when the snow changed to sleet and eventually freezing rain. High pressure to the east created pumped a milder southeast flow which warmed temperatures well above freezing at the 850mb level up to the New Hampshire border. Rain became light at the time icing would have been greatest. Tree limbs snapped all over the place eventually causing a power outage.
