A man tries to ram our airplane at Cork airport in a stolen SUV. We were standing in line - waiting to board the airplane. The man rammed an unmarked Garda car, injuring a detective sitting in the back of the vehicle during the chase across the runway in front of the terminal building.
He abandoned the stolen SUV and then hijacked an Airport Fire Service vehicle, threatening two staff at knifepoint and ordering them from the vehicle. He then took off again and was heading for the parked Aer Lingus Airbus 320 when he collided with a luggage truck and came to a halt.
The man emerged from the SUV wearing only his underwear and armed with a knife and was running at gardaí when members of the Regional Support Unit Tasered him.
