I disagree. I love this little concerto, even more than the Ballade. More interesting harmonies and modal melodies, at that transition between romantic and modern. (Faure was teaching at the Paris Conservatory at time of composition in 1910. Ravel was one of his students.)
The performance could hardly have been finer. :)

Golly... wish I could say I like this piece better than Faure's Ballade, Op. 19, but I just don't. That said, this was a fine performance!

In any case, I'm glad you liked it. And it's good to know that there's someone out there standing up for this rather unknown work, which deserves to be heard more often.
