"I can't get a straight answer from this crazy hemisphere."

@codymws that's because of it's design, not the Coriolis effect.

@dracozombie You obviously didn't do research before you said that
I'm from NZ *Newzealand* It flows Backwards to the way it does here in Canada

Coriolis effect, a consequence of Earth's rotation is detectable only at large distances. Earth is not rotating quickly enough for us to detect changes in such fast moving swirls such as a toilet flushing

THIS TOILET BELONGS TO A SNIPER

you stupid mudafuka!!! how much water do you need to waste before coriolis effect becomes apparent!!!! you effing dum madafukas!!!

@dracozombie you are right
Did some reading on this and found an interesting article. Though it true that the water does actually swirl in different direction. However the swirl direction is greatly impacted by minor ripple. direction of slope of ground and also initial prod.

You're both wrong- they spiral the same way no matter what hemisphere you're in.
The Coriolis effect is so weak in toilets that it won't have any effect. It's the direction of the jets and shape of the bowl that determines which way the water will swirl. You can find toilets in any country that swirl both ways.
