It seems like Phil's voice was right for this cover. I love it because it has lots and lots of power in it. I believe Phil has done Elton proud on this song.

@bughead3 I think it's the Yamaha CP70 Electric Piano, the ubiquitous piano of the '80s. I quite like it actually - and it does help to give this a different sound from the Elton John original. And the band Keane revived that sound for their huge Hopes and Fears album in 2004.
