can any one point the way to any information about metal to glass bonding techniques? I know in scientific glass blowing a lot of metal to glass bonding is used in vacuum tubes like in old crooks tubes and things like this? Thanks

acetylene is too dirty to use

@plumcrazypurp, I'm a glassblower, but do it more as a hobby now; Love it, but got tired of the heat. I've known many glass blowers, and no, you don't have to work for a big name company to make money. One of my good close friends started out making beads and now owns his own studio with people under him. They make all sorts of things, and yes, one of their main production items are pipes. It's all about skill level, marketing, and location.

@iobject i imagine blowers for name brand companies do ok, i know illadelph only hires people with scientific blowing degrees so they probably get good pay. but i think your right that private blowers don't make that much.

LPG is Liquefied Petroleum Gas, a mixture of propane and butane(not natural gas), the exact mix depends on company and season, propane has a lower vapor pressure than butane, so it us used more heavily in summer.
