im trying to make trails like fallintotheabyss and i have the same question, can u answer for me? and i wanna start off with about 1 ft tall jumps and move my way up, can you tell me how to make them hard so they dont crumble as easily? - thanks, centry96

Depending on where you dig and the type of soil you can do what we do. Get the dirt wet but not too muddy, take shovel loads and start to stack, then form the lips. Once you have them the size you like and they ride smooth, continue watering them. EVERYNITE when you are done ridding, SOAK YOUR JUMPS. We used to always say "time to make mud puddles", this keeps them rock hard and smooth and the next day they will feel like wood ramps they will be so smooth.

people tell me to put carpet on there, why? could someone please answer this for me

Some trails, like sandy trails, will not keep their stability on their own. Using carpet on the landings will keep them from falling apart. If you dig in soil and not sand, you will not need the carpet.

not true. the reason ppl use carpet on trails is to hold moisture into them. especially over summer. usually they come off when u ride them then wet them at night an put carpet back over. stops the jump drying out an cracking an keeps them super smooth an fast

I am sure that is true to some extent but I have ridden and helped dig on many Florida trails and the carpet was a key element to making the jumps, at least the landings, stay in one piece.
