Charles Mingus would've punched all you haters on the mouth already.

Getz-Mr. Goldentone; Coltrane-Mr. Madman. Together=magic...

BTW anyone who thinks Oscar or Coltrane "sucks" either does not know how to listen or does not understand Jazz. Even people who don't care for Coltrane's style acknowledge that he was one the greatest Jazz masters of all time.

CYFEO! (Clean Your F****** Ears out!) Everyone on this video does nothign but SWING! Go back you your MSMus program and do it again! They let you fall thru the cracks!
Rather than insulting musicians, perhaps we can marvel at their greatness and their different approaches to this art form. After listening to Coltrane's intense, searing sound we get a chance to hear the great Stan Getz, who has a sound and feel that puts me somewhat in mind of Lester Young. Five world class musicians, great playing, and a great presentation. What's not to like? The shut up comment did make me laugh, though - seems like Oscar is firmly in the grumbler camp of jazz cats!

I heard Oscar with Stan Getz before, but it's really really rare to hear him with the other guys, especially with the Paul Chambers bass line (I am acustomed to hear his licks with Ray Brown or NHOP).
I think this is a kind of conection between Norman Granz and Kind of Blue.
