that's ironic really, i used to use 3ds max exclusively then i had to change to maya for school, now after using maya for about a year i can bearly do anything in 3ds max any more, granted that might have to do with the new versions (2009-2012) horrible UI's

@dangraphic Is there anything like FumeFx, Multiscatter, Vrayscatter, Krakatoa, Vue Xstream, Real Flow (integration) for Maya? ... I felt in love with 3ds when I started in this venture, back then there was no Vray available for Maya... only the less realistic Mray... so I just kept using it till today, also there are much more availability of tutorials, models and full scenes on-line for 3ds... Do you like Mudbox and Zbrush? Thanks for your comments...

Oh and by the way, Maya is not primarily a MAC application either, it's a port over from SUN work stations, which have nothing to do with *blehg* Macs.

@shadman1911 I don't know your friend who works with Maya, I mentioned not having used the entire features is primarily not because it's a dark, impenetrable Pandora's box where no one knows what's in it! It's mostly due to the fact that I can use 10% of the application and get work done.. it's a POWERFUL program. Oh and I LOVE 3d MAX, it's a solid workhorse... but it's neither the best 3d App nor the most complex, this is a well known industry position. reasonwhy it costs 3x less than Maya.

max has a great UI, you've lost your mind. blame yourself not the UI, it is 100% programmable. there are so many new features. you went into maya (which uses max features from 2002-2003) and is also becoming more descript in the UI.
