I am telling you that is not as difficult as this firefighter is making it look, like the instructor is pointing out, anyone trapped inside would be dead by the time that FF gets up those stair cases, BA shuffling is a quick search and rescue activity, this guy makes it look as if he is climbing Everest!!

I agree that this speed and tactic would not work in a real life incident, but what I do not understand is why some people can't grasp that these are high school kids doing this stuff for the very first time. I don't know where you are from, but up here we like to support people who are willing to give up their time to train and learn, not belittle them.

Hi there, I am a UK firefighter, when we do S&R we stand and keep back of a hand on the wall. I know this is first day training, but do you always search in this manner? Interested to know, great video by the way. :)

The way this training is they are supposed to have one person in contact with the wall and each other person in contact with them forming a chain.

This is to help the explores first you need to sound the stairs so that you dont fall through second dont search right behind one another all you are doing is searching the same spot the man infront searched. You can spread out as long as you can hear your partner you can find him. The last think would be the speed. The whole point of search operations is to remove people from the hazardous area remeber they dont have SCBA like we do they only have minutes to live in the toxic gases from the fir
