Witness to murder at Indian Residential School

Irene Favel describes in a CBC interview (July 8, 2008) how she witnessed the murder of a baby by staff at the Muskowekwan Indian Residential School, run by the Roman Catholic Church in Lestock, Saskatchewan.

I'm uploading it anyway because of the importance of what this woman describes: deliberate murder at a residential school, something that has never gone to any court in Canada and yet something that has been recounted by hundreds of survivors. The lawyers won't go there as it implicates the Crown, whom they are sworn to defend above all...)

Can EVERYONE please stop using the word Indian for natives of any and all countries.. it causes a lot of confusion (even among adults let alone young school age children) .. especially for the detriment of Indians from India.

But look - You're feeling more moved to express outrage at the admittedly crap camera work (on sth that wasn't about the visuals at all) than at the horrific content spoken therein?

@NecronFire Thank you for that, especially for looking into the whole horror show more deeply. This needs to be recognized for the genuine holocaust that it is: we really only ever learn of the Jewish Holocaust and, no offense intended to the Jewish community, this was worse in that it specifically targeted kids and went on for over a century. (and I apologize for using the f-word at you! - I normally try to refrain and take the higher road.)

No one really knows the extent of their involvement in Canada - how many children, where are they buried? The deceased children should be returned to their place of birth, it is a common way of initially righting the wrong. Yes, there should be criminal investigations by a separate party - even if it has to go to the world courts. To let the public know what happened to those children.

I can't really say that my relatives had an apology at of 2012. Being a second generation, I never had an apology either because the IRS was in Thunder Bay, Ontario and it was owned and operated by the Sisters of St. Joseph. Until such time as the Order of the Sisters of St. Joseph apologize in a public manner, the way the other participants from the Religious Orders have there is no foundation. So the truth and reconciliation process hasn't started with this group wherever they had schools..

There was a ton of crap happening at Muskowekan.A few years ago when they were renovating the Muskowekan Residential school for another purpose. Contractors found a unmarked burial site, when they redoing some of the sewage systems.

To the other people that are on here making dumb comments about the terminology of Indians. I went to this school and grew up in this area and I personally take offense that your not understanding the message in this video.
