Poecilotheria metallica defends her tube

Für das Vogelspinnen Forum http://birdspider.de durfte ich auch ein paar Fotos für die Hauptseite beisteuern. Ich drehe aber überwiegend Videos, die möglichst alle Facetten von Vogelspinnen zeigen sollen.

Although the P. metallica was not fed for over a month it turned out that she was still full or in the pre-molt phase. So she came out just for defending her tube and to rout out the intruder respectively. The mouse was not injured.

Du weißt ich liebe deine Videos. Und diese Spinne wird irgendwann auch in meinem Bestand rumhüpfen ;) Schade das sie sich nicht so oft zeigen.

@fredi4you Meine sind fast 10h täglich zu sehen, da sie immer im Spot vom Halogenstrahler liegen :)

Hast du ein paar Tipps zur Haltung für mich?

@fredi4you Das dürfte nicht lange dauern, Poecilotheria spp. kann man ja förmlich beim Wachsen zusehen ;) Von der Haltung her sind sie wie alle Poecilotheria spp. unkompliziert. Sie mögen es halt warm. Der Boden kann abwechselnd nass bis komplett trocken gehalten werden, um die Regen- und Trockenzeit zu simulieren. Macht besonders dann Sinn, wenn du eine Nachzucht versuchen möchtest. Ein adultes Männchen bekommst du später für ca. 80 Euro. LG

wunderschöne spinne... bin stark am überlegen mir eine p.metallica zu zulegen.

allerdings sind die preise schon ziemlich hoch!

warum ist denn ein adultes weibchen so viel teurer als ein männchen?

habe noch ein freies 30x30x30 terrarium.. würde das reichen? oder sollte es doch höher sein?

@twister360 Die Weibchen leben länger und werden seltener angeboten, daher der Preisunterschied. 30cm³ reicht aber mehr schadet auch nicht :-)

You shouldn't give T's mice.  They can't digest the calcium. It's bad for them.

don't feed mice to tarantulas, dubia roaches and crickets are much better

@BitUpload Sind die Männchen schöner oder die Weibchen und ist das Gift sehr toxisch, wurdest du schonmal gebissen...?

Poeciliotheria Metallica is truely venomous but ist's not an aggressive one as the P.Ornata or Regalis are.

mice r bad for Ts... theres a video on youtube that explaines why, check it out. also never give ur T an adult T, iv seen one kill a full grown T cause the venom took too long, and the mouse bit the T to deth... mice r bad for them >>.

All of the Poecilitheria spp. are really fast and nervous spiders..and they have a hardcore venom..hutrs like hell!! (P.regalis bit me) not a beginner species at all..

This is one truly beautiful spider. I've rarely seen such a beautiful blue tarantula.
