Niang was so cruel! I really wonder what made her the way she was. Adeline's father did not even seem to care about the treatment of his first children. How sad.

I read this book and I was just SHOCKED at the level of negelect Adeline suffered as a child. I sometimes wonder how on earth someone can look at their own child and shun it like her father did.
Adeline's story is a must-read for everyone.

@numwan31 yeah, I cant believe her she is definitely bad and did not mind adeline at all
she treated her as if she's a pet, what a fat head she was, I hope she would burn in hell
soo bad
-
@Chichiri520 gosh but as far as im concerned i read the last part of the book and her dad was proud of her
in playwright competition but he refused her to be a writer and take medical exam instead, man how can a parent do that I hope her dad and her step-mom would burn in hell for what they had treated for her
-
Exactly! I was rereading the book a few days ago and I could not believe how the dad (and Niang) treated Adeline after winning so many awards and accomplishments at school. ANY parent would be proud of their child.
-
@Chichiri520 yeah I hope Niang would rot in hell for what she did to Adeline, no wonder that douche is
so mean

we r readin this bk at school ATM in english and its really sad i cried twice. and we havent finished the book yet. i cried when her family forgot her when she got lost after school. and when the boys made her drink their pee.
if u dont mind sad stories u shud read it.
-
i absolutely loved this book! i just feel bad because her entire family (except Ye-Ye, aunt baba and Nai-Nai, and some cases with third brother) were mean to her.
-
Just got done reading this. Good book. Some aspects of her childhood reminds me of mine. I would do extremely well in school and come home to little recognition and hell.
-
Definately. The movie "Precious" is an example of that.

@bjnboy But despite the lack of love she had, she persevered in life to be who she is today. Her story is something for other Cinderellas out there to understand they are not alone
my classmate cried when they read this book but me, not even a tears fall on my cheeks, i dont know why? but im very touched with this!
