Build your own fishing crate for you kayak. Works with both Sit On Tops as well as Sit Inside. Holds 2 rods, 1 net, and a bunch of supplies. Cost about $15 and 60 minutes to assemble.

  • you can get better solid crate at dcrates dot com that is where I get mine. I had the same one you have but it did not last long. Hope this helps

  • @alexey419 good feedback , thanks. I like to open sided crates so they don't fill with water. Do you put drain holes in the side/bottom to help?

  • Crate looks good. For a floor, rather than plywood which will soak up water and delaminate, I'd use some polyethylene plastic (buy at lumber supply or hardware store), or buy a kitchen cutting board (plastic) at Walmart. Will last forever. Happy Yaking.

  • @sergeantsailorman that's a great idea. maybe even that corrugated plastic they use for real estate signs, rigid, but not very heavy - Thanks!

  • I use a soda crate with pipe bolted in the corners and tuck it under the bungie cords. On and off easier when not fishing

  • @joeebear sounds great - can you post a picture? sounds like a good solution - thanks
