While Occupy Charlottesville protesters were camped out a few blocks away at Lee Park, the Jefferson Area Tea Party held a rally on Friday evening, October 21, 2011, at McGuffey Park to celebrate freedom of speech.
JATP chair Carole Thorpe read a press statement, explaining the group's motivation in seeking a permit to use McGuffey Park after its normal closing time.
@coffeepartier: Oh, look! The Tea party is still around and the occutards have all gone back to busking, smoking dope in mom's basement and taking Bitterness Studies courses.

Whine whine whine. Without the backing of Fox News and the Koch brothers the tea party would sink into irrelevance. So the Occupiers got a permit to camp overnight? Let's see the tea party camp overnight too & see how few of them there really are. If you're concerned about safety (what a joke of an excuse), you can surround your tent with armed guards, because you're all gun owners, right? The rule of law is easily bought-your corporate backers know it, as do the occupiers,it's why they're there.

keep trying to ride our occupation coattails to get a little attention for your laughably small efforts. we are helping homeless every night to stay sober, we are giving free GED classes, food and blankets. We are working with the city that supports us, because you anti-tax fools have cut the state and local budgets for things that make the community better. and all you do is whine. nobody likes a whiner.
