You know...why is figuring out how to record from your tv to a dvd so hard to come by? You wasted 4 minutes of my life.

Will this record in really good image and how much

This is clear as mud, what do you have the recorder plugged into,,, you cant just turn it on when its not plugged into anything. HELP ! I gotta get these done by xmas. You Must explain in detail the hook up process. Im recording from VHS thru my TV to the recorder. THEN I need to record from the cam to the recorder. But first I need to be told how to hook it all up first.

@CrazyMike2345 you get a spare set of a/v cables, three Y-splitters from a place like wal-mart, radioshack or best buy you hook your console and spare a/v cable into one end of the Y-splitter and then plug the other end into the tv.

can i record tv, like xbox gameplay? use it as a capture card?
Whatever device you are using (e.g. TV, VHS, camera, etc.) you'll need to connect the output from that device to the input of the recorder. You'll know you've got it right when you can preview the image you want to record on the Sony recorder. FYI, I was recording real-time from my miniDV camera (2-hour capacity).
In your scenario just connect the VHS player output to the Sony recorder input. Select play on your VHS and you should see the image on the Sony recorder. You don't need the TV.
