Ricky is a legend. Even if Australia drops some world rankings we are entitled too. its harder to stay on top then it is to be a flash in the pan side and only be on top of the rankings for a few month, weeks or even matches. AUS has won 4 of the 9 ODI world cups (the last 3 in a row) dominated tests for years under Mark Taylor, Steve Waugh and now Ricky pointing, provides a safe playing venues for cricket and has substantially less of a populace to draw players from.
