(cont.) According to the Maffetone Method, aerobics exercise is important to build muscles around the joints so they can stabilize the latter during anaerobic activities like ballet. I wonder if your program addresses that issue.

I'd like to know if this program would get my heart rate up to the optimum level that would qualify for "cardio." I have started to jog a couple of months ago in order to get the necessary cardio for my general well-being. My aim is to reach the optimum rate which is 180 minus age, and to do so continuously for at least 20 minutes. During ballet class, sometimes I would get over that rate but since each set of exercise does not last long, ballet is considered anaerobic exercise.

Did you get kidnapped by the Russian Mafia? You disappeared off the face of the Earth. Let us know you're ok

Would this be safe for 6-8 year olds as a pre ballet preparation?

Is there going to be a dvd for Men?

Hi Eric, I am very interested in your videos as I am only 37 and I have osteoarthritis in both my knees. I do ballet as recreational hobby (I have to say its really bad for my condition but I love it). I find that its really difficult for me to do any kind of cardio (even swimming) so I cant wait to try your fitness DVD. I follow the Rommett Floor Barre technique and the Kniaseff Floor Technique. Is your program similar or done at quicker place to increase calorie burning? Thanks atb Jen

Thanks for the post and the DVD sounds very interesting! I was wondering, as you understand quite well the Russian method and logic, that not only is Russian ballerinas' technique outstanding, they are also very skinny, even more so than elsewhere. Does this degree of thinness have a function or logic behind it or is this just an aesthetic ideal that has to be attained?

@marypflieger Hi Mary, you're welcome to ask your question(s) here. The main point here is that Russia's pedagogical method (as well as in other countries) is nearly perfect and all that is necessary for training a ballet dancer. In America we are trying to find ways of compensating for the inadequacy of our pedagogical methods, and this has led to the rise in popularity of cross-training. All we need is a sound pedagogical method, it is a much simpler solution I think

Hi I want to ask how to develope turn out I have test my turn out using your method I had good turn out but when I stand I only have a little turn out
Thanks
In figure skating all serious figure skaters had to cross-train. Pilates was big, but ballet was almost standard. But cross-training is boring and draining. I'm looking forward to this DVD because ballet type training is all that has ever really interested me. I do like the ballerina aesthetic, even though I have never been and will never be a ballerina (and am content with that fact too).

@alix0657 Great comment; yes a number of athletes use ballet as a cross training tool, but taking a standard American ballet class isn't that useful honestly. The fundamental placement and core development are (which is the heart of this program). So this program is all you would ever need in terms of cross-training with ballet.
