GREAT PERFORMANCES' Eric Clapton Crossroads Guitar Festival Chicago re-broadcasts March 19 at 9 p.m.(ET) on PBS (check local listings).

Credited throughout his career with creating super sounds in super groups, Eric Clapton offers his ultimate collaboration with an all-star lineup of B.B. King, Willie Nelson, Sheryl Crow, John Mayer, Jeff Beck, Buddy Guy and more. Bill Murray hosts.

A follow-up to his groundbreaking, Crossroads Guitar Festival in 2004 at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas, the event drew nearly 28,000 fans to Chicago's Toyota Park on July 28. Like its predecessor, the festival was a benefit for Clapton's Crossroads Centre in Antigua, a drug and alcohol education and treatment facility. "The Crossroads Festival is the realization of a dream for me, to gather a group of amazingly talented musicians to perform on one stage," says Clapton, who remains onstage virtually throughout the entire concert. "The Crossroads performers are all musicians I admire and respect."

  • I was there. It was awsome. I stood on my feet for 12 hours. It was worth it. Obviously, I'm a wannabe guitar player. I was at Crossroads 2010 also. Even better because I got there earlier than last time. I was 40 feet from the salt of the earth. I'll be there next time. Eric is one in a million. By all standards, he shouldn't even be alive. For some reason he is. Life is good. I hope Eric lives to be a 100. HeartBrokeDownBlue, obviously you are young and don't understand blues.

  • Eric Clapton - Crossroads - Festival

  • sucks that in such a thing called 'crossroads' festival there isn't more 'homegrown' players instead of these headling acts.... thumbs down

  • derek rocks!

  • no pause it at 0:49 !!!! hahahahaha dirty bugger ;)

  • pause it at 0:59

  • Fact about John Mayer-i am agreeing with "dasafrew" John Mayer made basically his most popular senses of music with his pop songs, john mayer got in this because of his incredible playing with his Trio. Search john mayer-where the light is and watch his trio section songs, they are amazing. So stop judging people if you dont know a lot about them.

  • Had to love this fest.. Most everyone was a real talent.. of all types of music no less. maybe Mayer has good publicists but he is not as good as half of the locals in Chicago. also he is known for his ability to attract attention.. and this time it was 'pure' charity..!

  • John Mayer is an incredibly talented blues player

  • This is a good overview.

The March '09 PBS Rebroadcast is abit off in the future, does anyone have a link or navigation to browse the content with Beck or the Blind Faith song that was highlighted..."Had To Cry Today"?

    This bumper has excellent resolution.
